Kinetic IT Appoints Pierre Tagle to Lead Growing Sovereign Cyber Security Capability

Australian-owned technology services provider Kinetic IT has appointed Pierre Tagle as Head of Cyber Security. The appointment strengthens Kinetic IT’s Cyber Security leadership as the company expands its sovereign security capabilities across Australia.

Tagle brings more than 25 years of technology and cybersecurity experience across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. He will lead the company’s national cybersecurity practice, focusing on security advisory, risk management, resilience, and security operations.

The appointment comes as Australian government agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and enterprises assess how they manage cybersecurity risks. It also highlights the importance of sovereign capability, including where security expertise, operational control, and technology services reside.

Pierre Tagle Brings More Than 25 Years of Cybersecurity Experience

Pierre Tagle holds a PhD in Computer Science and has held senior positions at DXC Technology, Secureworks, and NTT. His experience includes developing and leading cybersecurity capabilities across complex organisations and markets.

At Kinetic IT, Tagle will oversee the continued development of the company’s cybersecurity practice. He will also work across its Professional Services and broader technology portfolio to support the next phase of growth.

Kinetic IT has supported Australian government and enterprise organisations for over 25 years. The company employs approximately 1,450 people nationally, with operations in Perth, Darwin, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra.

Kinetic IT Cyber Security Expands Sovereign Capabilities

Kinetic IT is expanding its cybersecurity services within its Professional Services portfolio. The company aims to support government, critical infrastructure, and enterprise customers operating complex and regulated technology environments.

Its cybersecurity practice combines advisory, governance, and strategy services with operational security capabilities. These include identity and access management, threat and exposure management, and cyber resilience.

The practice also includes an Australian-based sovereign Security Operations Centre (SOC). A SOC helps organisations monitor security activity, investigate potential threats, and coordinate responses to cybersecurity incidents.

According to Kinetic IT, its Australian ownership and operational experience provide a foundation for expanding sovereign cybersecurity services. The company sees growing importance in where cybersecurity expertise and operational control reside, particularly for government and critical infrastructure organisations.

Kinetic IT Leadership Outlines Cybersecurity Strategy

Shane Quinn, Managing Director, Professional Services at Kinetic IT, said the expansion reflects the company’s focus on applying its operational experience to cybersecurity challenges.

“Cybersecurity is a natural extension of where Kinetic IT has operated for close to three decades — deep within the technology environments that underpin critical services and essential operations,” Shane Quinn said.

“We have an opportunity to bring that operational understanding together with specialist cyber expertise to help customers make better decisions about risk, resilience, and where to focus their security effort.

“Pierre has built and led cybersecurity capabilities across complex organisations and markets. He brings the experience, perspective, and leadership to help us build on what we already do well and shape a cyber practice with distinctly Australian relevance.”

The company’s approach brings cybersecurity expertise together with its existing experience managing complex technology environments. This includes environments supporting essential services and other critical operations.

Cyber Resilience and Operational Security Remain Priorities

Pierre Tagle, Head of Cyber Security at Kinetic IT, said effective cybersecurity starts with understanding the systems, services, and operational requirements an organisation needs to protect.

“The strongest cybersecurity outcomes come from understanding the environment you’re protecting — the technology, the services it enables, the risks that matter, and what the organisation needs to keep running in the face of evolving cyber threats,” Pierre Tagle said.

“Kinetic IT already has a strong foundation through its customer relationships, operational knowledge, and sovereign capability. The opportunity now is to build on it with cyber capability that helps organisations see their exposure more clearly, understand what needs to change next, prioritise intelligently, and strengthen resilience over time, and then help organisations to design, implement, validate, and operate that change.”

“I’m excited to join an Australian company to help build on its strong foundation, and make a meaningful contribution to the cybersecurity of Australia’s government and critical infrastructure sectors.”

Tagle’s comments outline a focus on identifying security exposure, prioritising improvements, and strengthening resilience. The approach also covers designing, implementing, validating, and operating cybersecurity changes.

For organisations managing essential services, cybersecurity involves more than identifying threats. It also requires understanding which systems support critical operations and how to maintain those services when incidents occur.

What the Appointment Means for Australian Cybersecurity

Kinetic IT’s appointment of Tagle forms part of its broader expansion into cybersecurity advisory and operational services.

The company intends to build on its existing government and enterprise relationships while developing capabilities for complex and regulated environments. Its Australian-based SOC and national operations form part of that strategy.

For customers, the company’s stated approach brings together cybersecurity planning, threat management, identity controls, and operational resilience within its wider technology services portfolio.

However, the announcement does not provide financial details, specific expansion targets, or timelines for additional cybersecurity services.

Tagle will lead the cybersecurity practice nationally as Kinetic IT continues developing its security capabilities across Professional Services and the broader business.
