The Western Australian Police Force And Kinetic IT Continue IT Services Partnership

The WA Police Kinetic IT partnership will continue under a $250 million ICT services agreement supporting one of the world’s largest policing jurisdictions.

The Western Australian Police Force selected Kinetic IT, a privately owned and sovereign Australian technology company, to deliver services across four service towers. All services have now transitioned into live support.

The agreement covers day-to-day IT operations, cybersecurity monitoring and governance, cloud infrastructure, end-user technology and other systems used across the Western Australian Police Force.

WA Police Kinetic IT Partnership Covers 2.5 Million Square Kilometres

The two organisations have worked together for nearly two decades. Their relationship began in 2008 with ICT infrastructure service delivery under contract 42007 Provision of Infrastructure Services.

The new agreement, WAPOL04124 Provision of ICT Infrastructure Services to the Western Australia Police Forces, covers a large and geographically dispersed environment.

Kinetic IT will support the Western Australian Police Force’s 15 districts and more than 200 police facilities. The environment includes approximately 6,800 police officers and 2,000 supporting police staff across 2.5 million square kilometres.

Each service tower has an initial term of between three and five years. The Western Australian Police Force can also extend each service line by between two and three years.

The contract’s total value is approximately $250 million.

Cybersecurity And IT Operations Form Part Of The Agreement

Kinetic IT is responsible for day-to-day IT operations support for the Western Australian Police Force.

That work includes service desk operations, incident and change management, ServiceNow support, cybersecurity monitoring and governance. Kinetic IT will also manage cloud platforms, servers, storage and backups.

These services place cybersecurity alongside the broader technology operations that support police personnel and facilities across Western Australia.

Kinetic IT also manages end-user services, including desktop and field support at remote sites. Its responsibilities include modern Microsoft 365 and meeting room technology.

The agreement also includes a desktop-as-a-service model. This provides regular fleet refreshes designed to keep staff devices secure, current and reliable.

Kinetic IT Continues Long-Term Police Technology Support

Managing Director for Defence, Federal Government and National Security, Leighton Freene, said the organisation is proud to continue its support for the Western Australian Police Force.

Leighton Freene -Kinetic IT

“Kinetic IT has been proud to stand alongside the Western Australian Police Force day-to-day for nearly 20 years, and during some of the most significant moments in recent history – from supporting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2011 to the Force’s technology response during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our teams work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Western Australian Police Force to ensure the technology the frontline relies on is resilient, secure, and ready, whether it’s a routine day or a moment of national importance. This new agreement reinforces our work together, built on shared purpose, long-term commitment and a focus on enabling the WA Police Force to continue serving and protecting the Western Australian community.”
