SuiteWorld Keynote: From Access Permissions to the Kill Switch: NetSuite Tackles Security Challenges of Autonomous AI

NetSuite’s SuiteWorld 2026 product keynote examined how AI agents operate within existing ERP permissions, approval processes, and monitoring controls.

NetSuite AI security was a major focus of the SuiteWorld 2026 product keynote at Caesars Forum in Las Vegas. The company demonstrated how its Autonomous Suite uses existing business permissions, approval processes, and monitoring tools to control AI activity across finance and operations.

The presentation followed Monday’s opening keynote, which introduced NetSuite’s Autonomous Suite vision. That session covered SuiteSkills, industry-specific SuiteAgents, AI Portlets, AI Workspaces in NetSuite Next and SuiteExpress for AI-led implementation.

Annexa, NetSuite’s ANZ Industry Partner of the Year for 2026, attended the second day of keynotes. Its team examined the technology and its implications for organisations across Australia and New Zealand.

NetSuite AI Security: Trust and Access Controls

The keynote opened with the issue of trust in AI-generated information. NetSuite argued that AI answers depend on the reliability of the underlying data. The company believes AI should operate within the ERP system businesses already use as their source of truth.

Under this approach, AI follows the same roles, permissions and customisations that apply to employees. NetSuite also emphasised that users must be able to review the information supporting each answer. During the keynote, demonstrations included supporting evidence alongside AI-generated results.

AI Permissions and Access to Sensitive Business Data

NetSuite highlighted the importance of business context. Its assistant works within existing roles, permissions, reporting structures, and organisational data. Employees can ask questions in plain language without needing specialised prompting skills. For finance teams, NetSuite presented this as a way to reduce time spent preparing reports and checking figures, allowing more time for decision-making.

AI Transparency, Traceability and Auditability

Ask Oracle allows users to ask questions about profitability, cash flow, and unusual financial trends. The assistant interprets the question, gathers relevant data, and performs the analysis. It then presents its findings alongside the reports used, underlying assumptions, and links to the original records. This allows users to review the information behind each response.

Embedding Organisational Policies and Approval Requirements Into AI

NetSuite also demonstrated how Skills allow businesses to define instructions for AI based on existing operating procedures. Organisations can capture their preferred workflows, approval requirements, operational processes and best practices. The assistant then reuses those instructions when employees work with it.

AI Agent Security, Permissions and Governance

SuiteAgents formed another major focus of the keynote. NetSuite described an agent as AI with a specific purpose, defined by its goals, instructions, access permissions, and business context. Ask Oracle provides the conversational interface, while SuiteAgents carry out defined tasks.

The demonstrations showed agents monitoring projects, identifying risks, recommending actions, creating draft records, and performing routine operational activities. NetSuite said these functions operate within predefined boundaries, with the option to require approval before actions affecting the business.

Monitoring AI Agents and Maintaining Human Control

NetSuite introduced the SuiteAgent Management Workspace, which gives administrators visibility into agent activity. The workspace shows what agents are doing, which data they access, and where intervention may be required. Administrators can also switch off individual agents. NetSuite presented this capability as part of its approach to maintaining human control over autonomous AI.

Approval Controls for AI-Initiated Actions

One demonstration showed Ask Oracle responding to a project resourcing issue. The assistant explained the cause and proposed retaining the existing architect while rebalancing her workload or assigning a colleague with available capacity. Ask Oracle listed potential replacements alongside their utilisation and rates. The system only made the reassignment after the director approved it, with options to approve once, approve for the remainder of the chat, or deny the action. Following approval, the portlet refreshed and showed no high-risk projects.

AI Operating Within Established Business Controls: What It Means for Australia and New Zealand

For Annexa, the main takeaway was how NetSuite integrates AI into existing ERP processes. Across the demonstrations, Ask Oracle, SuiteSkills and SuiteAgents worked with the operational and financial data already held within the platform. Rather than treating AI as a separate initiative, organisations can introduce capabilities into existing workflows. Potential applications include accelerating finance close activities, improving customer service responses and giving managers better operational visibility.

The product keynote also demonstrated how NetSuite intends to maintain business controls as AI takes on more operational tasks. Existing permissions, approval processes and administrative oversight remain part of the approach. While Monday’s opening keynote introduced the Autonomous Suite vision, the product keynote demonstrated how its components work in practice. For Australia and New Zealand, the NetSuite Next rollout remains behind North America. Annexa recommends using this period to identify suitable AI applications and prepare business data and processes ahead of regional availability.
